.SH "NAME"
addurl \- Bookmark page update utility
.SH "SYNOPSIS"
\fBaddurl\fR [\fB\-t\fR] [\fB\-l\fR] [\fB\-f\fR \fIfilename\fR] [\fIURL\fR ...]
.SH "DESCRIPTION"
\fBaddurl\fR takes as arguments URLs of some sort (ftp://, file://,
and http:// are accepted), then visits the URL and adds a link,
with a fetched title, to the caller's bookmarks page. If no
URLs are specified on the command line, they are read from
stdin, one per line.
.SH "OPTIONS"
.Ip "\fI\-f\fR \fIfilename\fR" 4
Use the specified filename instead of the default value.
.Ip "\fI\-l\fR" 4
Assume link is part of a list and use the <\s-1LI\s0> element.
.Ip "\fI\-p\fR" 4
Assume link is not part of a list; use <P> as a separator.
\fI\-p\fR overrides \fI\-l\fR and ${\s-1ADDURL_LIST\s0} (see below).
.Ip "\fI\-t\fR" 4
Add link below the <!--\s-1TOP\s0--> comment in the bookmarks file. The
default action is to add below the <!--\s-1INSERT\s0 \s-1HERE\s0--> comment.
.SH "EXAMPLES"
.Ip "\fBaddurl\fR \-t http://www.cs.uky.edu/~neil/" 4
This will add the page named ``La Page de neil Moore'\*(R' to the bookmarks file as
near the top of the bookmarks page as possible.
.Ip "\fBaddurl\fR \-l http://www.w3.org/" 4
This will add the \s-1WWW\s0 Consortium's home page to the bookmarks file as part
of a list.
.Ip "\fBaddurl\fR \-f lynx.html http://lynx.browser.org/" 4
This example adds the Lynx browser's home page to an alternate links file named
lynx.html.
.SH "ENVIRONMENT"
\fBaddurl\fR uses ${HOME} to determine where to look for the default bookmarks
file.
.PP
If the environment variable ${URL_FILE} exists, the file pointed to by it
is used as the default bookmarks file.
.PP
If the environment variable ${ADDURL_LIST} exists, \fI\-l\fR is assumed.
.SH "FILES"
${HOME}/public_html/urls.html \- the bookmarks file. See OPTIONS for a way to
modify this.
.SH "AUTHOR"
.Ip "Neil Moore wrote the original version of \fBaddurl\fR." 4
.Ip "Michael Slone modified it to use various options and wrote the \fIaddurl\fR manpage." 4
.Ip "Neil Moore modified it some more." 4
