I've become interested in automated testing at work and took a quick look around in the tests directory just now. Are the lua tests run automatically at any point? Are they up to date (some are very old)? 10:09:47 I was inspired by reading about the seeded play on the dev blog. It might be usable for automated testing as well? 10:23:39 the automated tests are run by travis on every commit, so we do keep them functioning more less 10:23:59 they are actually all run with seed 1 (aside from the ones that manipulate the seed) 10:24:35 the test suite that travis runs is what you get by doing "make test", it's possible to manually run them too 10:25:29 seeding is definitely good for testing with the caveat that because of the nature of crawl, seeds may change often 10:26:10 oops 10:27:22 keskitalo: not sure if you saw my response, maybe you timed out in the middle? 10:29:00 also I didn't spot the +v until you just logged in again so you probably already knew some of what I said, sorry :-) 10:31:32 advil: Sorry, I did time out just there 10:31:53 Found the log, so no worry! 10:32:20 ok 10:32:29 what were you thinking of in terms of automated testing? 10:33:09 our test suite is definitely kind of weak and focused on stress testing a relatively small number of things 10:44:55 03Michael Nowack02 {GitHub} 07* 0.24-a0-278-g81e821a: There are two tournaments per year. 10(3 days ago, 1 file, 1+ 1-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/81e821ac9a17 10:44:55 03Keskitalo02 {GitHub} 07* 0.24-a0-282-g1a68c91: Merge pull request #1049 from syranez/patch-1 10(10 seconds ago, 0 files, 0+ 0-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/1a68c911f0f3 10:46:38 advil: I didn't know any of that actually :-) Doesn't sound too bad! I'm not sure actually about what sort of testing. I'm most familiar with the basic "with this input, expect this output" unit testing, but not sure how applicable would that be to Crawl development, with the random component and so on. 10:47:27 Unstable branch on crawl.kelbi.org updated to: 0.24-a0-282-g1a68c911f0 (34) 11:23:33 Stable (0.23) branch on underhound.eu updated to: 0.23.1-50-ga50397a6bc 11:23:42 wow a keskitalo merge 11:24:02 coming out of retirement???? 11:31:52 hehe.. that was a low hanging fruit, to get a feeling like I was contributing 11:48:24 ebering: you should add yourself to https://crawl.develz.org/wiki/doku.php?id=dcss:admin:devteam 11:52:01 so I should 12:30:32 -!- amalloy_ is now known as amalloy 13:05:46 Unstable branch on crawl.akrasiac.org updated to: 0.24-a0-282-g1a68c91 (34) 17:46:44 you should replace that page with "see the github wiki" :P 18:21:55 Unstable branch on underhound.eu updated to: 0.24-a0-282-g1a68c911f0 (34) 18:38:38 03advil02 07[incremental_pregen] * 0.24-a0-280-g5d11ae3: Initial implementation for incremental pregeneration 10(9 days ago, 3 files, 143+ 87-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/5d11ae3d55d7 18:38:38 03advil02 07[incremental_pregen] * 0.24-a0-281-g83e3e02: Add an option to disable incremental pregen, use it for fireworks 10(6 days ago, 5 files, 33+ 3-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/83e3e02d45ad 18:38:38 03advil02 07[incremental_pregen] * 0.24-a0-282-g14c7494: Cosmetic refactoring of the rng interface 10(4 days ago, 21 files, 257+ 235-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/14c749449064 18:38:38 03advil02 07[incremental_pregen] * 0.24-a0-283-gfa4cde9: Change PCG initialization to something more standard 10(4 days ago, 6 files, 65+ 45-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/fa4cde94e047 18:38:38 03advil02 07[incremental_pregen] * 0.24-a0-284-ga7cf631: Update the bounded random implementation 10(3 days ago, 5 files, 88+ 25-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/a7cf631d7ceb 18:38:38 03advil02 07[incremental_pregen] * 0.24-a0-285-g194b42a: Improve the rng subgenerator API 10(3 days ago, 7 files, 89+ 44-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/194b42a65ac0 18:38:38 03advil02 07[incremental_pregen] * 0.24-a0-286-g2153f8d: Remove almost all instances of you.unrands 10(31 minutes ago, 18 files, 284+ 170-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/2153f8d6ca27 18:38:38 03advil02 07[incremental_pregen] * 0.24-a0-287-g1186b1b: Add back ident:type for some cases 10(65 seconds ago, 2 files, 10+ 10-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/1186b1ba424e 18:39:00 the github wiki doesn't have that page, does it? 18:47:30 might mean the contributors page 20:48:24 -!- amalloy is now known as amalloy_ 20:48:33 CBRO is frozen 20:53:53 ^status 21:09:36 -!- amalloy_ is now known as amalloy 21:40:12 -!- amalloy is now known as amalloy_ 22:42:51 advil: ummmm did you mean to make minmay_guarded_unrand_folly place robe of night instead of robe of folly? because that's what you did 22:49:29 the des looks right 22:49:31 ITEM: robe_of_folly no_pickup 22:54:20 any chance yu'd already seen robe of folly somewhere? 23:35:39 talking about the incremental_pregen branch here
